Features

Audio Tracks
Record and layer multiple audio tracks with CD quality sampling rates (44.1kbps). Monitor any mix of tracks (including the rhythm pattern) during your recording sessions. Use separate tracks to layer harmonies, guitar, bass, keyboard, backup vocals, etc. Independent volume controls let you set the mix, and individual mute buttons to quickly cut out specific instruments.

Automatic latency compensation ensures that the audio tracks and rhythm pattern are always in sync - including tracks that others send you over the network.

Recording on the iPod touch requires the use of an external microphone.

Rhythm Patterns
The rhythm patterns (beat pattens) cover many of the basic musical styles including Rock, Blues, Country, Jazz, Waltz, Hip-Hop and Latin. During audio recording and playback the selected rhythm track is automatically started and synchronized with the audio tracks. Selections in early versions of GigBaby! are limited, but future versions are expected to include dozens more. Visit our web site to learn how to submit your own midi rhythm patterns for inclusion with future versions of GigBaby!

Metronome
The GigBaby! metronome includes a "tap" feature to quickly set the tempo by feel. Or you can easily move to a known tempo with the calibrated slider bar, or enter a tempo to microsecond resolution using numeric keyboard. The beat pattern volume is adjustable, and can be muted with a quick button tap. The display shows current beat based on the time signature of the selected beat pattern, and time in seconds based on the starting time of the beat pattern. Tempo is adjustable from 30 beats per minute to 210 beats per minute.

Setlist
The setlist manages all of your settings for the songs you perform. The configurable settings include the song name, the associated beat pattern the tempo, any backing tracks that you previously recorded, volume settings for the beat pattern and audio tracks. You can quickly move through your setlist using presets. No fiddling with knobs and buttons! From the setlist detail view you can share tracks with your bandmates, friends, family, and fans.

Sharing with other devices or with desktop systems requires WiFi.

Pros and cons of GigBaby! four track recorder, metronome, drum machine app for iPhone and iPad

GigBaby! four track recorder, metronome, drum machine app good for

one of the best apps i ever had... :D i just need to thank!! could you please add a possibility to limit the lenght to make a loop? and maybe to export the endmix as wav or mov .. thanxx
Gig baby is a real cool tool! If there were a record input level regulation it would be even better.
I used this with an acoustic, at first with the phone mic- if you play too close or have the track turned up it will clip, not apps fault. Then with headset mic, and ear monitor, works- better sound. Drum tracks bit cheesy but do the job, can turn down after or mute. Is good to have varible beat and signature. No pan, what are you gonna do on your phone anyway produce Robert Fripp! looks just as good as other ones, totally worth 5$ I paid 1$.
This is by far the beat app for recording demos, voice, lecture, bootlegs and such.... Its perfect for demos and a great start @ an awsome price! I would pay easly $50 for it! I drop tempo, then a beatloop, tape a ear bud to my guitar amp and use the other 4 a click. Ive recorded at festivals, clubs shows r tricky, school, and rehersel all pretty well. I sound check to just into the red and go. If u r hi into the red, the apps "burps", like protools "pops". So b sure not to blast the levals! Everyone ,joe 6 pack, is extreamly impresssed with the quality of the demos I share! I love it for what it is!!! Very well done! Next we need panning, compression, +10 tracks, and biggest flaw thats must be corrected for a perfection is mic sensativity adjustment!! I still love it and forsee musicans of all caliber loving this one!!!
I play guitar and this is a perfect little app for me to hear my own playing. It took a little getting used too but once i did i always use this little app. You can basiclly mash together four different layers of music and create your own songs or just play rythmn and then add lead or vocals or precussion. I also find that recording with the iphone ear buds(with built in mic) is way better quality then recording without them. Awesome App !
Love this program, just wish it panned and you could ping pong. But overall great and for 99 cents!

Some bad moments

Simple, nice tool if used only on iPhone. Transfer of recorded data does not work - useless. Needs update!
After installing the application for first time, I lost all my podcasts stored on my itouch. I then redownloaded all my podcasts and then uninstalled the application. Re-installing the application cleaned out my podcasts again. The application also was garbling when recording (via the headphones); however, when listening to the recorded track - no garbling was heard. I tried to record 3 tracks on one playlist - it was able to play all three back simultaneously. I saw that another four track recorder was having the same garbling issues and the developer stated that it was an issue with 2.2. Perhaps it is the same issue this application is facing. Nevertheless, losing the podcasts upon installation needs to be resolved. I give the application 2 stars for effort and also that the garbling issue may not be the applications fault.
I am running this app on my new iPhone 3gs, and am having synch problems. I lay down one track, record a second track, and upon playback find out that they are 3/4 of a second off (the 2nd track is that much behind). I restarted my iPhone in case you are wondering. Methinks the app needs an update. I will rewrite this review upon getting a working version.
I dont know if anyones tried this, but the app comes up with a weird looking IP address, and I cannot browse to the page. I think this part of the app is broken. Otherwise, the app appears to work OK, but could really use a major face-lift. Very crude looking compared to what is out there!
Ok, I know how to work a recording system, but how do I get this app to record my music?!?!?!?! I press record, then play my music with my band, then stop, and whenever I go to press play, all I hear is the tempo!!! Good price, great app, but how do I record my sond?
I have a windows system... The .caf file format is not compatible with any software on my machine. Ive spent the last two hours....(which I will never get back) trying to find a file coverter that will make the useless .caf file into a .wav file. No luck... must rate this two stars for a great app....with a huge flaw... .caf files are useless unless someone can answer the most obvious question...Ive had no luck answering... What do you do with .caf when youre windows based.... Oh, I hear its great for garage band....ummm garage band works on macs.... Its so close to being the coolest app in the world.
